Queen’s South Africa Medal, 2 bars, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, 3265 Private Thomas Lawrence, East Kent Regiment. Invalided home full entitlement of clasps.

 

Officially impressed: “3265 Pte T. Lawrence, E. Kent Regt.”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, which notes his number as 3265, service papers record as 3365.

 

Invalided home early during 1900 so no further bars or KSA issued.

 

Thomas Lawrence, born in Bermondsey, London during 1873.

 

Attested for service with the Buffs, East Kent Regiment on 10th January 1891, having worked as a Baker’s Assistant whilst serving with the Kent Artillery Militia.

 

He saw the following service:

 

Home, 6th Jan 1891 – 21st December 1899
South Africa, 22nd December 1899 – 29th June 1900
Home, 30th June 1900 – 5th January 1903, Invalided home early, finished out his 12 years of service.

 

Transferred to Army Reserve on 6th January 1898
Emergency Recalled for Boer War on 4th December 1899.

 

Transferred back to Reserves on 1st February 1902.
Discharged 5th January 1903, after completing 12 years terms of engagement.
