Queen’s South Africa, 4 bars, CC, OFS, Transvaal, SA 1901, 1064 Corporal William Hall, A Division, South African Constabulary. A former 19th Hussars Cavalryman.
Officially impressed: “1064 Corpl: W. Hall. S.A.C.”
Confirmed on the medal roll, which records he served with A Division of the SAC.

The medal roll has the following note in his remarks section: “In Prison 24:9:01 to 21:10:01”
The additional roll entry for his SA 1901 clasp recalls: “Crime I Drunkenness on active service, II Conduct to the prejudice.”
It also reads: “In Prison from 24 9/01 to 21 10/01 + Forfeits service for that period, discharged M.U. 10/11/1901.”
William Hall was born circa 1865-6 in Old Basford, Nottinghamshire. Living in Rotherham by the time of enlistment.
At the time of enlisting in the SAC he was 35 years old and working as a miner with former service “In the 19th Hussars on account of first period of service being expired.”
His papers also contain his 2 letters of recommendation.
