William Richardson, was a local from St Marys, Hinckley, Leicestershire, having worked as an Apprentice to Mr Cobley, a Blacksmith in Leicester, He attested for service aged 21 years and 4 months for service with the Leicestershire Regiment on 4th April 1894.
