Queen’s South Africa, 2 bars, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, 1182 Trooper A.W. Thompson, E Division, South African Constabulary, who died on service on 6th June 1901. 

 

Officially impressed: “1182 3rd CL: Tpr: A. W. Thompson. S.A.C.”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, which notes he “Died 6.6.01”.

 

Additionally entitled to a loose clasp dated “South Africa 1901” after the issue of the medal, which was never attached.

 

Trooper A.W. Thompson died of disease at Bloemfontein on 6th June 1901.

 

Since about May 1901, the defence of the city of Bloemfontein, which included a large Boer Concentration Camp was run by the South African Constabulary.
