Queen’s Mediterranean Medal, 7616 Private W. Randall, 3rd Bn King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.
Officially impressed: “7617 Pte W. Randall. Yorks: L.I.”
Confirmed on the medal roll which remarks: “Invalided 18-9-01”
During the Boer War, the 3rd Militia Battalion of the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry were embodied for service, instead of being sent to the front in South Africa, they were posted to Malta, before heading home the roll was written out at the Island of Gozo.
They arrived at Malta in June 1901 and set off back home on 23rd March 1902.
Randall was sent home early being invalided on 18th September 1901.
