The Q.S.A. is impressed only “H. Cooke” as he was an attached civilian.
His medal is issued on the roll of “Civilians drawing Military Pay and employed by the Royal Engineers in Natal”.
He was likely a local man and later joined the Natal Carbineers as a Sergeant.
