Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct, GV Coinage Head, J78581 W. H. Dark. A.B. HMS Revenge, Only 17 when he joined the Navy during 1917 on HMS Powerful.

 

Wilfred Harry Dark was born on 17th January 1900, in Leamington, Warwick.

 

He was 17 when he joined the Royal Navy during WW1 on 19th September 1917 as a Boy 2nd Class onboard HMS Powerful.
He was onboard until January 1917, when he transferred to HMS Renown from 28th January 1918 until 1st November 1920.

 

Continuing his service he was with the Royal Navy all way the 1920s, 1930s and through WW2.

 

From 30th July 1939 he was on HMS Revenge. He was pensioned on 16th January 1940 but continued his service for the remainder of the war, finally being discharged on 18th October 1945.

HMS Drake 4 (Cleveland) – 4th June 1942

HMS St Angelo (Euraclydon Staff) – 1st January 1945
HMS Victory – 15th June 1945.
