The Royal Guelphic Order of Hannover, Guelphen Orden K.H., a Knight’s Breast Badge, Military issue with swords, in gold and enamels with original gold suspension and buckle on delicate original silk ribbon, a superb and very rare example.

Guelphen Order Ritterkeuz mit Schwertern, Hannover

Only one very slight chip to green enamel on reverse about 11 o’clock, otherwise an extremely well preserved example.

A very early issued of the Knight’s Badge of Hannover, the same type issued for the Peninsular War and Waterloo, commonly seen in groupings with a Military General Service of Waterloo Medal.

Since the order was instituted in 1815, and at the time the United Kingdom and Hannover shared their Monarch, King George III, the order was frequently awarded to British Officers of the Army and Royal Navy up until 1837.
