Sudan officially engraved: “3598. Pte M. Blake. 1/N. Staff: R.”

Khedive’s Sudan engraved in usual regimental style: “No 3598 Pte M. Blake 1. N. Staff. R.”

 

Toned good condition.

 

Both confirmed on the medal roll.

 

During his time in the Sudan War, Private Blake took part in the Dongola Expedition of 1896 to earn the “Hafir” clasp to the medal for the final battle of the campaign the Battle of Hafir in September 1896.

 

The Hafir Battle Honour was a unique award to the North Staffordshire Regiment being the only British Army Regiment present in the Battle that ended the Dongola Expedition.
