Description

Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, EVII, 22 Sjt A.V.T. Elliot, S & K R.G.A., From Brighton, a member of the Sussex & Kent Royal Garrison Artillery, awarded in Army Order 186, 1st July 1909.

 

Arthur Victor Thomas Elliott was born in Brighton during 1875 and lived there all his life. He had 6 Brothers but 3 of them were killed during WW1, his brother Sydney Charles Robert Elliott (born 1879) died on 6th September 1917 in France, his Brother Alec Leonard Elliott (born 1882) died on 17th September 1917 in France, soon after his other Brother Douglas Harold Elliott (born 1886) died on 23rd December 1917.

 

He also served during the War, as a Corporal/Acting Sergeant in the Rifle Brigade with service numbers 508 and 206615, seemingly only entitled to the British War Medal as he served in India from 12th February 1916 until 1st May 1919 with the 24th Rifle Brigade.

 

The 1939 Cencus shows him as a Window Cleaner living with his wife Maude at 9 Newhaven Street, Brighton.
