knee and was later gassed whilst on service in France.

 

With full set of service papers printed in A3.

 

17 Year old John Niven first signed up at Paisley on 29th May 1914 joining the 1st/7th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

 

Served at Paisley from 29th May 1914 until 4th August 1914

Home, 5th August 1914 – 31st July 1916

Expeditionary Force France, 1st August 1916 – 28th March 1918

Home, 29th March 1918 – 11th March 1919.

 

Admitted to a field Hospital around 23rd July 1917 having received a gunshot wound to the knee.

Shown as “Gassed” on 22nd March 1918, lines up with him being sent home the next week.
