Transport Medal, EVII, bar S. Africa 1899-1902, A.L. Brown, Alexander Laurie Brown was a Scottish Ship’s Surgeon of S.S. City of Glasgow of the Ellerman Line.

 

Officially impressed: “A. L. Brown”

 

Born during 1873 in Tranent, East Lothian, Scotland to Robert and Jessie (Rae) Brown. first qualified in medicine at Glasgow University and Anderson’s College, Glasgow, during 1899. Being shortly afterwards employed by the Clyde Shipping Company, serving as Ship’s Surgeon with the Transport Ship S.S. City of Vienna on the Ellerman Line.

 

Recorded in the 1907 Navy List as a Surgeon with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve with seniority 15th October 1903, attached to the Clyde Division.

 

Registered with the Medical Register, 1st August 1899, L.R.C.P. Edinburgh 1899, L.R.C.S. Edinburgh 1899, L.F.P.S. Glasgow 1899.
