Description
Turkish Crimea Medal, Sardinian variety, with decorative custom suspension, 3069 Private Joseph Procter, 68th Durham Light Infantry, saw action at Alma, Inkermann, Balaklava and Sebastopol.
Engraved in contemporary style: “3069 Pte J. Procter 68th DLI”
Fitted with an unusual custom made suspension, made with a claw in the style of the Crimea Medal, fitted to a swivelling engraved ring attached to a flat bar to hang the ribbon.
Private Joseph Procter had a very busy war in Crimea, being additionally entitled to a matching Crimean War Medal, with all 4 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Balaklava and Sebastopol, having seen service in every battle in which the 68th Foot fought during the war including the Siege of Sebastopol.
He is later shown as still serving with the Regiment in 1861, being stationed with them at Rangoon.
