Description

Turkish Crimea Medal, La Crimea, Sardinian issue, engraved to 2386 Private Thomas Fuller, 68th Regiment of Foot, The Durham Light Infantry.

Attractively engraved with little flourishes at beginning, middle and end: “T. Fuller. 68th Regt:” Name in script and regiment in capitals.

2386 Private Thomas Fuller, 68th Foot is first shown on the 1851 Army Census as stationed with the regiment at Malta.

He then fought in Crimea, earning the Medal with 3 bars for Sebastopol, Alma and Balaklava.

A note on the roll shows this medal was issued by the Mint on 17th January 1862, should be out there as an officially impressed example probably reading: “T. Fuller, 68th Regt.”

He also earned this Turkish Crimea Medal for service during the war to accompany the British Crimea Medal.

The naming on the Turkish Crimea happens to be in the same formatting as the matching Crimea would have been impressed, lacking service number and rank, probably used as a reference.
