Description
Turkish Crimea, “La Crimee” reverse, a well made French issue of the medal.
Suspended by a ring with sewn on original silk miniature ribbon.
Three distinct variants of the Turkish Crimea Medal were made at the time of the war, the first issue from Sardinia had a reverse that read “La Crimea” but due to supply issues and many of them being lost at sea, Britain and France made their own versions to give out to the veterans.
The British issue reads only “Crimea” and the French, “La Crimee”, these two are usually higher quality strikings based on the Sardinian die with some improvements to the details and die struck in a higher quality.
