During the campaign, the 52nd Sikhs Frontier Force, were acting as infantry with Northern Command.

They served as Infantry alongside the Royal Hampshire Regiment at the Battle of Jidballi on 10th January 1904, where the 52nd Sikhs were tasked with leading the infantry into action, with the Hampshires to their left rear.

On the 11th August, the column came under heavy attack from the Dolbaharata Tribesmen, the elite force of the so called “Mad Mullah” Mohammed Abdullah Hassan.

The victory put the enemy into a retreat, and the remainder of the campaign was spent chasing him out of British Territory.
