Description

Matthew Boulton’s Medal for the Battle of Trafalgar 1805, White Metal, a well preserved example in period Silver case with glass lunettes.

Fitted with very old and frayed “Navy Blue” silk ribbon.

In good condition for age, being almost 220 years old.

Some light corrosion oxidisation and wear over the years.

The Medal has been preserved by being placed into a silver case with convex lunnettes, in a similar style to open face pocket watches of the period.

Similar cases in this style date to about 1800-1830s before the invention of the more commonly seen Stem-wind cases which was invented in the 1840s.
