Second China War Medal, 1857, bar Taku Forts 1860, Driver James Davidson, 3rd Battery 13th Brigade Royal Artillery, officially impressed and confirmed on the medal roll. 

 

Officially impressed: “Driver Jas Davidson, No. 3 B 13th Bde R. Art”

On old ribbon, general wear and only one slight edge bruise.

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, being entitled to both the medal and clasp for “Taku Forts 1860”.

 

The 2nd Anglo-China War also known as the Second Opium War.

 

He is additionally noted on the 1861 Army Census as present still with the 13th Brigade RA who were at “Woolwich, Secunderabad, Tientsin, Aden, Neemuch and Poona.”

 

Kevin Asplin’s Medal Roll further notes that he transferred to the 9th Brigade on 28th November 1863.

 

An identical medal and clasp issued to Lieut G.B.B. Hobart, senior to Driver Davidson recalls that he had “Served with the Expedition to China in 1860 and was present at Sinho, Tang Ku and the Capture of the Taku Forts.”
