Officially impressed: “GUNr THOs EDMONDS, No 3 B 13th Bde R. Art.”

 

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, being entitled to both the medal and clasp for “Taku Forts 1860”.

 

The 2nd Anglo-China War also known as the Second Opium War.

 

He is additionally noted on the 1861 Army Census as present still with the 13th Brigade RA who were at “Woolwich, Secunderabad, Tientsin, Aden, Neemuch and Poona.”

 

An identical medal and clasp issued to Lieut G.B.B. Hobart, senior to Gunner Edmonds, recalls that he had “Served with the Expedition to China in 1860 and was present at Sinho, Tang Ku and the Capture of the Taku Forts.”
