Description
Crimea Medal, bar Balaklava, engraved to a French Soldier “Carrere” of the “28e”
On original silk ribbon, the Balaklava clasp has instead of being attached to the suspension rod, had the back clasp removed, to allow it to be sewn onto the ribbon for wear.
As French Army medals were issued unnamed, the rim has been contemporarily engraved with the following details:
“Carrere 28e”
28e means 28th, for the 28th Regiment d’Infanterie to Infantry Regiment.
