The roll also notes that his medal was issued, being officially named by the War Office on 27th November 1856.

William North, served with the 62nd Regiment, known as the Wiltshire Regiment, during the Crimean War.

He can be traced back to 1851, where he was present with the 62nd Regt at Mullingar, Ireland.

He served with the service number 3188 and appears to have been a transfer from the 14th Foot where he held service number 2175.
