Distinguished Conduct Medal, GV, Sgt H.G. Reynolds, South African Medical Corps.
Naming mostly erased with “EYN” “S.A.M.C.” as still legible, research has shown it to be the medal of Sgt H.G. Reynolds, S.A.M.C. the only matching recipient with these letters in his name.
Awarded in the London Gazette 3rd October 1918.
Citation of award: “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This NCO has done most excellent work in the past 18 months in 2 separate areas. In every action at which he has been present he has a very high example of coolness under fire, and by his conduct in treating the sick and wounded.”
Also mentioned in despatches London Gazette 30th May 1917.
