Awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in the London Gazette 8th June 1944 whilst serving as Second Hand on HMT Equerry, the gazette reading” The King has been graciously pleased, to approve the following awards for outstanding service in the face of the enemy, or for zeal, patience and cheerfulness in dangerous waters, and for setting an example of wholehearted devotion to duty, upholding the high tradition of the Royal Navy.”
Also awarded a Mention in Despatches whilst a Second Hand on HMS Mammouth with the Royal Naval Patrol Service, announced in the London Gazette 6th May 1941, “For Courage, Zeal, and devotion to duty while serving with the Channel Mobile Balloon Barrage.”
