Efficiency Medal, bar Territorial, GVI issue, 1463264 Gunner James Thomas Currie Morris, Royal Artillery, served during WW2 with the 147th Glasgow Light Anti Aircraft Regiment.

 

With copy of his Tracer Card and enlistment register.

 

Gunner J.T.C. Morris enlisted on 4th May 1939.

 

Served through the war, his card noting he was posted from the 57th Searchlight Regiment to the 147th (Glasgow) Light Anti Aircraft Regiment circa 22nd March 1943.

 

These were actually the same regiment but they changed their name around this time.

 

In 1939 the regiment known as the 8th Battalion Cameronians (57 Searchlight) became the 57th Glasgow Searchlight Regiment of the RA Territorial Army.

 

Initially they served in Glasgow and Western Scotland, before slowing moving further south, spending 1942-1945 in England, being deployed to the South in Essex, London, Dorset, likely needed in response to the frequent bombing attacks in the South.

 

Released to the reserves on 1st September 1945.

 

Continued his service with the Territorial Army to earn this medal, before discharge in 1954 being “Overage”.
