Owen Ashton Dowd, was born on 10th November 1933 in Plymouth Devon.

 

The son of William Dowd and Ellen E. Peatheyjohns.

 

He grew up in Plymouth with his family shown there on the 1939 Census, where his father worked as a Brewery Labourer.

 

After the war was over a young Owen joined the Royal Air Force as a “Boy Entrant After May 1947”. He served as an RAF Corporal in the “Arabian Peninsula”.

 

He would later earn the Long Service Medal when holding the rank of Sergeant.

 

During his service he would marry in Sleaford, Lincolnshire during April 1958, to Eunice M. Bickle After leaving the RAF he returned home to Plymouth, where he died during January 1997.
