Officially impressed: “23835225 Pte R.J. Parry. 1 E. Anglian”

With the original box of issue for the medal and Army Medal office issue letter that confirms the Radfan clasp. Scarce to be able to confirm the proper entitlement.

 

“In February 1964 the Regiment arrived in Aden as part of the Aden Brigade, seeing active service in the Radfan on the border with South Yemen as part of Radforce, fighting Egyptian-supported guerillas, losing a number of its soldiers in the process.”

Now part of Yemen, the Qutaibi Sheikhdom part of the Western Aden Protectorate was home during the Aden Emergency to the Qutaibi Tribesmen who attacked the British Army in the Radfan Hills, they became known as the “Red Wolves” of Radfan for their ferocity in combat.
