Indian Mutiny, bar Lucknow, Private Richard Brighouse, 97th Earl of Ulter’s Regiment of Foot, who died of Dysentery at Lucknow on 13th May 1858 shortly after the capture of the city. 

 

Officially impressed: “RICHd BRIGHOUSE 97th REGT”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, for the medal and clasp, the remarks noting “Died on the day 13th May 1858.”

 

Service Number 4272.

 

The 97th medal roll also features the following honours for the men including Brighouse:

 

“Served with the Jourpore Field Force under Brigaider General Franks C.B. in the action of Nusrutpore, Chanda, Umeerpore and Sultanpore and joined the Main Army under His Excellency the Commander in Chief on 4th March 1858 and were present at the Siege and Capture of Lucknow.”
