Mayor of Kimberley’s Siege Medal, aka The Kimberley Star, hallmarked for 1900 production, the first year, by Arthur Horatio Darby of Birmingham.

 

Star fitted with original suspension bar and old silk ribbon, lacking brooch pin for wear.

 

A good example with clear hallmarks, Anchor Birmingham City Mark, Victoria Head and “a” Hallmark for 1900. Also maker marked AHD for Arthur Horatio Darby who produced the stars during the war.

 

The reverse reads “Mayor’s Siege Medal 1900”, this privately made medal was produced during the 1900-1902 to be sent out to the Defenders of the Town of Kimberley who had taken part in the Siege of Kimberley from 14th October 1899 – 15th February 1900.
