Knight Bachelor, 1st Type, Largest Size, Breast Badge, produced at the Royal Mint in 1926, the first year of issue.
Hallmarked for the date 1926 “L”, and also marked “RJ”, as produced at the Royal Mint under the tenure of Deputy Master of the Mint Sir Robert Johnson.
This 1st Type also features the attractive cross hatched enamelled background, which was later discontinued. Made in the first year of production following the introduction of the badge in 1926, Knighted Men now being allowed to order a new badge to display their Knighthood.
The 2nd Type was later issued in a smaller size, followed by the smaller current 3rd type which was worn as a neck badge.
