This unusual combination of bars is confirmed on the medal roll, being earned with a gap of 4 years between them and is 1 of only 8 medals issued to any unit in the Army.

 

Only 2 men of the 34th Foot earned this exact combination.

 

William Robinson was a member of the Cheshire Militia when he signed up with the 34th Foot.

After fighting in Busaco during 1810 he was posted home to England as an invalid, and later returned after a long recuperation to fight at Toulouse in 1814.
