Queen’s South Africa Medal, 4 bars, Orange Free State, Transvaal, SA 1901, SA 1902, 5817 Private Frederick Whyte, 1st Royal Highlanders. Died on Enteric Fever at Harrismith on 27th July 1902.

 

Officially impressed: “5817 Pte F. Whyte. Rl: Highrs:”
Bars confirmed on the medal roll which reads “Deceased”

 

Private Frederick Whyte had made it through the entire war with 1st Battalion The Black Watch, when he died of enteric fever at Harrismith on 27th July 1902.
