Wounded in action Slightly on 5th May 1901 at Brakpan.

 

Joseph Clarke, a Lancashire man born circa 1877 from Farnworth, Bolton, Lancashire, North of Manchester. Joined the regiment having been a Collier, aged 18 on 8th October 1895 seeing the following service: Home, 8th October 1895 – 21st October 1896 Ceylon, 22nd October 1896 -10th February 1899 South Africa, 11th Feb 1899 – 3rd October 1902. Home, 4th October 1902 – 8th October 1902 Home, 9th October 1902 – 7th October 1911. With Army Reserve. Total service of 16 years.
