Queen’s South Africa, bar Transvaal, 4368 Private George Lummis, Royal Lancaster Regiment. 

 

Officially impressed: “4386 Pte G. Lummias. Rl: Lanc: Regt”

 

Note slight misspelling reading “Lummias” instead of Lummis.

 

George Lummis, born in Ealing, London, Middlesex, was a 20 year old Picture Frame Maker, who joined the Royal Lancaster Regiment, from the 4th Militia Battalion Middlesex Regiment, on 1st March 1894.

 

He saw the following varied service over his 12 years:

India, 5th Feb 1895 – 14th Feb 1896

Malta, 15th Feb 1896 – 24th nov 1897

Hong Kong, 25th Nov 1897 – 16th Jan 1899

Singapore, 17th Jan 1899 – 26th March 1900

Home, 27th March 1900 – 30th August 1900

South Africa, 31st Aug 1900 – 10th Sept 1902

Home, 11th September 1902 – 28th Feb 1906.
