Royal Household, Faithful Service Medal, GV, 1st Issue, dated 1910-1930, Charles Edward Taylor R.V.M. Livery Porter to the Privy Purse at Buckingham Palace.

 

Awarded the Faithful Service Medal in May 1930.
Awarded the Royal Victorian Medal on 3rd June 1932

 

Officially Engraved: “C. E. TAYLOR”
The bar engraved with the date range “1910” “1930”.
Suspension possibly refitted at some point.

 

Charles Edward Taylor was the son of Groom, Edward Taylor.

 

First entered the Royal Household during 1897.

 

In 1901, he was appointed as Livery Porter, Privy Purse, at Buckingham Palace.

 

The considerable wage amounted to £80 2s 6d, with a £30 Lodging Allowance as well as “All Livery Porters, receive £4 10s 6d per annum for Hair Powder, £3 10s per annum for a Plain Suit, £3 18s per annum for washing White Waistcoats.”

 

Between 1913 and 1916 he was nominated by The Keeper of H.M. Privy Purse for a “Household Fee Fund” Scholarship which amounted to about £24.
