Description
Queen’s South Africa Medal, no bar, Mr F. Christensen, Imperial Military Railways. Entitled to 3 bars but disqualified as a Civilian.
One edge knock.
Shown as a “Railway Employee” on the medal roll.
The roll also shows entitlement to the 3 bars for Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, but they are struck through as civilians were later disqualified from earning bars as non combatants.
There were relatively few Christensens to take part in the Boer War, only about 40 earning medals, a few had come to South Africa from Denmark and Norway before the war, naturally many of them would instead take the side of the Boers.
