Officially impressed: “2340 Pte Momo Keffi N.N. Regt”

 

Particularly good condition for this issue.

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, which notes he was discharged afterwards, likely why it is in such good condition.

 

About 663 clasps were earned by the Northern Nigeria Regiment’s 2 Battalions present on the operations, no other unit earned medals it seems.

The “N. Nigeria 1904” clasp was earned by 1st and 2nd Battalion of the Northern nigeria Regiment for service during 1904.

 

4 Expeditions took place in widely scattered areas of Northern Nigeria.

 

These included:

1. Expedition into the Dakka Kerri Country, March 1904, under Lt SBB Dyer DSO, 2nd Life Guards.

2. Operations against the Pagan tribes who occupy the country north of Wase on the high road from the Bauchi between 25th March and 18th April 1904, under Lieut (Local Captain) P.M. Short, Gloucestershire Regiment.

3. Operations against the people of Semolika in October 1904, under Captain G.C. Merrick DSO, Royal Artillery.

4. Operations aginst the Kilba Tribe north of Yola, July 1904, under Lieut I.G. Sewell, Royal Fusiliers.
