A rare 2nd Type George V KPM, which unlike its predecessor the coinage head K.P.M. specifies on the reverse whether it was earned “For Gallantry” or “For Meritorious Service”.
The was only awarded for a short time the changeover coming in late 1933 until the death of King George V, according to Mint records, it was the late King George V’s own idea that the Policemen being awarded the medal should be distinguished on the medal itself how it was won.
