Naval General Service, EIIR, bar Near East, Royal Marine Commando F.C. Jones, who took part in the Amphibious Invasion of Egypt with 42 Commando during the 1956 Suez Crisis. 

 

Officially impressed: “R.M. 15348 F.C. Jones. Mne. 2. R.M.”

 

Mounted for wear on old ribbon.

 

The medal roll confirms that Mr Jones was a Royal Marine member of 42 Commando during the crisis.

 

The 3 famous Royal Marine Commando units, 40, 42 & 45 Cdo were deployed for the invading force during 1956.

 

Jones was part of 42 Commando, who alongside 40 Commando took part in the amphibious landings on 6th November 1956 landing on the beaches, whilst 45 Commando went up in Helicopters, which was a first in warfare, this attack marked the world’s first helicopter borne invasion.

 

Known as Operation Musketeer.
