The Most Noble Order of the Garter, K.G. Knight’s Garter, for wear around the left leg.
An attractive and well made example of the rarely seen Leg Garter which would be worn around the left leg of a Knight of the Garter.
This example likely dates to sometime in the Victorian Period. Lovely craftsmanship from an old Tailor.
Front made from Blue Velvet, with purple silk backing. Embroidered with silver gilt wire, with the motto of the order “Honi soit qui mal y pense”
Both buckles decorated with floral design and gilded.
