The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, or the “LANCS” was formed form the King’s Own Royal Border Regiment, the King’s (Liverpool) Regiment and The Queen’s Lancashire during December 2004.

The regiment uses the unusual traditional name of “Kingsman” rather than Private for their lowest rank. The tradition came from it’s old absorbed regiment the King’s Regiment (aka Liverpool Regiment).

The Duke of Lancaster’s saw a few deployments to Afghanistan during Operation Herrick.

Notably one tour from May 2010 to October 2010 for Operation Herrick XII (12), as as on the main “Principal Manoeuvre Units” along side the Queen’s Royal Lancers, 2 Companies of the 40 Commando Royal Marines, the 1st Bn Royal Gurkha Rifles and the 1st Battalion Scots Guards.
