Queen’s South Africa, 2 bars, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, 8922 Driver John Henry Donald, Army Service Corps, served with the 10th late 5th Divisional Ammunition Column. 

 

Officially impressed: “8922 DR J.H. DONALD A.S.C.”

Early large style impressed naming.

 

Medal confirmed on the medal roll, as part of the “10th late 5th Division Ammunition Column”, as one of the A.S.C. men with this column working in combination with the Artillery.

 

The roll notes when it was issued that the medal with “C.O.T. Clasps” (meaning Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal) was issued, so also entitled to the “Transvaal” clasp on top of these 2.

 

The roll notes “to 66th Battery R.F.A. December 1900”

 

It also noted the medal it self was issued on 30th June 1903.

 

For his additional service through 1901 and 1902, he earned the King’s South Africa Medal with both clasps, which notes at the time he had been Discharged.

 

The end of the Boer War coincided with his discharge joining the Army Reserve from 19th March 1903.

 

He served in South Africa from 22nd April 1900 to 15th July 1902.
