Queen’s South Africa, 4 bars, CC, OFS, TVL, SA 1901, 2054 3rd Class Trooper R.T. Spencer, South African Constbulary, S.A.C. 

 

Officially impressed: “2054 3rd Cl Tpr R.T. Spencer. S.A.C.”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, the SA 1901 medal issued later loose as usual from another roll, being attached with old string.

 

3rd Class Trooper R.T. Spencer was serving with the C Division of the South African Constabulary during the Boer War, when he died of disease at Heidelberg on 27th November 1901.

 

According to local burial records in Heidelberg:

 

Robert Thomas Spencer, 22 years old born circa 1879, a Trooper in the S.A.C. died and was buried At Heidelberg on 27th November 1901, by Chaplain H.W. Pughe Jones.
