Confirmed on the medal roll, a bit of an unusual combination as he appears to have been sent home following the lifting of the Siege of Ladysmith, the medal remarking “Rejoined 1/Bn in South Africa”.
For his additional service, returning in 1902, he earned a loose “South Africa 1902” Clasp.
