Queen’s South Africa Medal, bar Transvaal, 5542 Private Albert Edward Alexander Palmer, 2nd Bn West Yorkshire Regiment. 

 

Officially impressed: “5542 Pte A. Palmer. W. York: Regt”

 

With copy service papers.

 

Born in Deptford, Kent circa 1880.

 

Enlisted on 23rd June 1899 aged 19, having been a Plumbers Labourer.

 

Previous service: “3rd Bn Royal West Kent Regiment discharged at own request on payment of £1 date of discharge 1899”

Army Reserves, 4th April 1903 – 22nd June 1911.

Discharged end of his 12 years, 22nd June 1911.

 

Emigrated to Australia with his family during 1920.

 

Shown on the 1939 Electoral Roll in Australia, (also his son had married there in 1932) described as a Pensioner living in Lorne Street, Albert Park, South Australia, “Albert Edward A. Palmer”.

 

He died in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, during 1975, having reached the grand age of 96 years old.
