Queen’s South Africa, bar Cape Colony, Mr H. Alder, Army Service Corps, a Civilian employed by the A.S.C. without an Army Rank. 

 

Officially impressed: “Mr: H. Alder A.S.C.”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll.

 

Mr H. Alder served as a Civilian Clerk employed by the Army Service Corps during the Boer War.

 

Mr Harold Alder, was born in 1879.

 

During the Boer War, he was a Clerk, who was at the time employed by the A.S.C., during this time he married on 5th March 1900, to Florence Emily Collocott, at St Paul’s Church in Port Elizabeth.

 

His occupation was listed as “Clerk”, they were both 21 years old, Florence was a local girl born in Port Elizabeth.

 

After a long marriage, she died during 1943, and he followed not long afterwards, when he died at Malvern, Johannesburg on 11th April 1945.

 

At his death, he was described as a Englishman and retired Checker with South African Railways, in receipt of his S.A.R. pension.
