Queen’s South Africa, 2 bars, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, 3453 Private William Rice, 2nd Bn Northumberland Fusiliers.

 

Officially impressed: “3453 Pte W. Rice. North’d Fus:”

 

Confirmed on the medal roll, which notes in the remarks “On Roll of No 2 Company 10th Mounted Infantry”

 

One roll confirms the medal and 2 bars, another notes possibly earning the Transvaal clasp as well but appears to be issued as 2 bars medal.

 

Some edge bruising. On old ribbon.

With copy service papers.

 

William Rice was an 18 year old when he signed up with the Northumberland Fusiliers on 27th August 1892.
